42 Run Map

Privacy without the fine print

Privacy and Strava data

This page explains clearly what data 42 Run Map uses, why we need it, and how you can delete it.

Last updated: October 4, 2026

You control your data

Activity details are visible only to the signed-in account owner. 42 Run Map does not automatically show one user's data to other users. A public profile or Runner ID card is created only after a deliberate action by its owner and can be disabled again.

Data we process

Account data: email address, profile name, country, photo, and settings. Running data: manually entered records, uploaded GPX files, and activities obtained from Strava that you approve. Depending on the feature, these can include name, date, distance, time, activity type, start location, route, pace, heart rate, and elevation. Technical data: identifiers required to maintain sessions, protect the service, and diagnose errors.

Why we use data

To operate your account, recognize completed marathons, build your private map, calculate your statistics and collections, and suggest future races. We do not sell personal data or use Strava data to train or operate AI systems.

Visibility and sharing

Your account and running history are private. Strava activity details are available only to their owner. Enabling a public Runner ID or downloading a card requires a separate, deliberate action by the user. Public profile settings can be disabled at any time.

How the Strava connection works

After selecting the official Connect with Strava button, you continue to Strava and approve the access scope yourself. 42 Run Map obtains data through the Strava API only after that authorization. Every imported activity includes a View on Strava link to its source.

Retention and deletion

We retain data obtained from Strava while the account remains connected and the data is needed for features you chose to use. You can disconnect Strava in Profile. After confirmation, we delete tokens, scan history, pending proposals, and entries imported from Strava, then display a completion notice. Manual records and your own GPX uploads remain. You can also withdraw access in Strava settings.

Service providers

We use infrastructure providers required to operate the application, store data, deliver email, and diagnose failures. They receive only the data needed to perform that service. We do not sell data or provide it to data brokers or advertisers.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction, export, or deletion of your data and withdraw authorization for the Strava connection. Contact us if you want to exercise these rights or have a privacy question.

Optional analytics

Google Analytics runs only after you accept analytics. It uses cookies to recognize returning browsers. We send only general screen names and feature events, without usernames, run data, emails or personal URL parameters. After consent we also send an approved QR event code. Google also receives standard connection metadata. You can withdraw consent in Analytics settings; this stops further collection and removes GA cookies in this browser, but does not erase data previously sent. Admin pages and the owner account are excluded.

Contact and access management

Analytics — your choice

With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand which features help runners. We do not send your run or profile data. You can decline and use the app as usual, or change or withdraw your choice in analytics settings.
