One of the six World Marathon Majors, known for the fastest and flattest course among all the Majors. The route winds through 29 Chicago neighborhoods - from the Loop, through Lincoln Park, Chinatown and Pilsen, finishing in Grant Park on the shore of Lake Michigan. More than 50,000 runners from around the world take the start line, and the course's near-perfectly flat profile makes Chicago a favorite spot for chasing personal bests. It's one of the six races that count toward the prestigious Six Star Finisher title.
Timing weights apply to climbs, not turns. Elevation totals use the smoothed profile used by Index.
C = min(100, (mean raw weather burden / 150) × distance exposure factor × 100). Weather is averaged by local race hour across three full years.
