Buckeye Marathon – Race to the Runway is a road-running event held in Buckeye, west of Phoenix in the US state of Arizona. Taking place in January, the race offers comfortable winter running conditions and spectacular Sonoran Desert scenery. The programme includes a full marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K and a one-mile fun run. The marathon begins near Sun City Festival, follows roads around the scenic White Tank Mountains and finishes at Buckeye Municipal Airport. Its defining feature is a net elevation drop of more than 160 metres, making it an attractive option for runners seeking fast finishing times.
