The ABP Newport Marathon Festival is one of Europe's fastest and flattest marathons, held since 2018 in the Welsh city of Newport. The course was designed by two-time Olympic marathon runner Steve Brace, and its flatness means nearly 70 percent of finishers claim a personal best. The start and finish are on the riverfront, and the route passes iconic city landmarks, including the historic Castle, the Victorian Market, the Transporter Bridge and the modern riverfront development, while the marathon and half marathon also take in the scenic Gwent Levels, known for their coastal wildlife and picturesque medieval villages. The race weekend also features a 10K and events for children and families.
Timing weights apply to climbs, not turns. Elevation totals use the smoothed profile used by Index.
C = min(100, (mean raw weather burden / 150) × distance exposure factor × 100). Weather is averaged by local race hour across three full years.
