**Maratona Monumental de Brasília** is a distinctive Brazilian marathon held in the country's modernist capital, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The event offers four distances: 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon. Part of the international Mega Finisher series, the race takes runners through monumental urban landscapes designed by Lúcio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer. The course follows Brasília's wide avenues, passing near the National Congress, the iconic cathedral and major government buildings. Its mostly flat profile and asphalt roads offer excellent conditions for fast running, although the city's altitude of over 1,000 metres and warm inland climate add an extra challenge. The remarkable architecture and spacious cityscape make this marathon a unique running experience.
