The 7Cairns Marathon Festival is a running celebration in the heart of Tropical North Queensland, held every July along the scenic Cairns Esplanade. All distances start and finish at Fogarty Park, and organiser Atlas Events promotes the course as "pancake-flat" with full road closures. Runners can choose from a marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K and a family-friendly 2K, with the marathon starting before dawn to beat the tropical heat. The event draws runners from Queensland, across Australia and overseas, followed by a post-race festival in the park by the Pacific.
