Distances: Marathon (42.195 km)
Opening: date unknown
Closing: date unknown
The oldest marathon in the world, run continuously since 1897 and one of the six World Marathon Majors. The course runs from Hopkinton to Boston, passing legendary Wellesley College and the demanding Newton Hills stretch with the famous Heartbreak Hill, before finishing on Boylston Street in the heart of the city. It's the only Major with a qualifying time standard, making it onto the Boston start line an athletic achievement in itself, even before a runner takes a single step. It's one of the six races that count toward the prestigious Six Star Finisher title
